CTP Hackathon 2021

Welcome to

August 23, 2021 - August 27, 2021

Event Details

Theme: Back to In-Person

Event participants will come together in a learning-first-minded event, to create tools that will help us transition back to pre-pandemic life. With restrictions on social activities largely lifted in New York City, we anticipate the coming school year to bring us a little closer to pre-2020. However, after spending at least a year working or attending school virtually, we recognize that many people may find the adjustment challenging.  This hackathon is a reminder for students that they are not alone in their transition back to normal life.

Here are some example project ideas:

  • Movie Recommendation/Planning App

  • Group Restaurant Planning App

  • Educational Game to Supplement Learning in the Classroom

  • Choose Your Own Adventure Game (with stories relevant to transitioning back to pre-pandemic life)

Of course, feel free to come up with your ideas as well!

Judging

As students ourselves, we understand the stress of submitting a complete project by the hackathon submission deadline. Therefore, we will be prioritizing a learning environment, where we will be rewarding the pursuit of knowledge, risk taking, and code integrity over a clean product. In other words, we will be looking for the first iteration of your idea. We encourage you to focus on the fundamentals of your idea and to use this as an opportunity to play with new technologies and get to know your fellow C7 members. Explore the interesting ways your ideas and technologies can interact!

Submission Requirements

When submitting your project, be sure to adhere to the following requirements:

  • You must be in a team of 3-4 people.

  • You cannot submit a project that you started working on prior to the hackathon.

  • Your project must relate to the theme (Back To In-Person) in some way.

  • You must submit your project on Devpost between August 23rd and August 27th, 12:15 PM EDT.

  • You must submit a link to the project's repository and/or deployed website.

    • If the project is not deployed, please provide instructions on how to run it locally.

  • You must also submit a slide deck (e.g. PowerPoint, Canva) or video that showcases your project.
